The questions you should be asking.

Hiring someone to rebuild your operations is a trust decision. These are the real questions, answered the way I’d answer them on a call.

Why custom code instead of Zapier or Make?

For simple glue between two tools, no-code is fine, and where it genuinely fits, I’ll say so in the teardown. But once your operations depend on it, you’re renting logic you can’t inspect, test, or scale: one client was paying €10,000/month for a Make.com setup only the contractor understood. Custom code lives in your repo, has tests, survives personnel changes, and costs nothing per month to exist.

Why one engineer instead of an agency?

Because the handoffs are where quality dies. With an agency you talk to an account manager, who briefs a PM, who tickets a developer. With me, the person on the call is the person who designs the schema, writes the code, reviews it, deploys it, and answers when something breaks. The portfolio shows what that model ships: a 229-route production platform, built and operated solo.

What happens if you disappear tomorrow?

You lose a contractor, not your system. Everything lives in your accounts from day one: your GitHub repo, your database, your cloud projects, your API keys. Documented, tested, standard stack (TypeScript, Postgres, Next.js): any competent engineer can pick it up. That’s a deliberate design constraint, not a courtesy.

What does it cost?

The teardown is free. The systems audit is $490, credited toward a build. Build sprints are fixed-scope from $6,900: 50% upfront, final invoice only when it runs in production. Operator retainers start at $2,900/month, cancel monthly. Project-based, never hourly: you’re buying a working system, not my time.

Is my data safe with an external engineer?

Safer than it probably is now. I build on your infrastructure with row-level security by default, audit access paths (in one platform: every one of ~190 API routes reviewed, 11 access-control gaps closed), run EU-region error monitoring where GDPR matters, and set up automated backups to storage you own. A third-party security scan of my largest client platform: zero high or critical findings.

What’s the catch with the free teardown?

No catch, and no obligation. It’s the first rung of the ladder because you shouldn’t have to trust a stranger on faith. You get a genuinely useful map of your three biggest automation leaks whether or not we ever talk again. If it’s good, you’ll know exactly what working with me looks like. That’s the bet.
